Please note for all downloads, SVGs and PNGs are provided in RGB for screen use, and EPSs are provided in CMYK and Pantone for print use. Note that a metallic gradient should not be printed, it should be specified as Pantone 871C to your printer. See more guidance in the color section.
Secondary Centered Lockups
If a V-forward lockup is desired, you are designing a centered layout or need a more vertical vs. horizontal logo footprint, you may choose to employ the Centered lockup.
Secondary Pinstripe V Lockups
When the Primary horizontal lockup is not suitable, the preferred alternate is the Pinstripe V lockup. The pinstripe adds a distinguishing detail, which allows this option to be used at a larger scale.

Secondary V Lockups
When the Pinstripe V lockup is not suitable, you may use the V lockup. This lockup may be useful if using embroidery or screenprinting, or another process which doesn’t allow for a gradient, dimensional effects, or fine detail. Note, this version will be used the least out of all available versions.

Seal
As an extension of our new identity, we have updated and modernized our drawing of the classic Vanderbilt seal. Our custom illustrated seal contains our new motto Crescere Aude, year of founding, and reference to symbolism important to Vanderbilt’s distinguished history. Though we shed the oak leaf in the V icon, oak laurel branches are showcased here as a symbol of strength. The north star guides our way, and the circular container shape alludes to the markings on a compass.

Please note, the Pinstripe V version of the seal should be used for processes like embroidery, screenprinting, etc.
Seal Lockups
The most official configuration of our brand elements is to be used on university documents like diplomas, or for other very formal comms pieces. This version can feel too formal for everyday department communications.

Logotype
Our custom-drawn logotype is our primary wordmark. When used by itself, it can brand less formal communications that don’t require the full officialness of the seal.

V Icons
Our V icons provide a clear way to tie your communications piece to the Vanderbilt brand when you have limited space, or an otherwise dense layout. Often, they can be tucked into a corner to provide a subtle nod to the Vanderbilt brand. Our Dimensional V will also be used for all social avatars.
- Dimensional Vs are used for academic school and department lockups, and to abbreviate the primary Vanderbilt lockups.
- Pinstripe Vs are used when print processes don't allow the full use of the Dimensional V, and also more regularly in athletic materials.
- Plain Vs are used when you have limited space and additional detail of the fine outline would get lost.

School and Department Lockups
Our brand needs to extend across the many areas of our community, from schools to departments to programs. Our brand architecture is designed to be flexible and clear, associating sub-brands with our larger master brand and displaying clear hierarchy. Looking for your department lockup? Clear Space
All lockups can use the height of their respective icons around all sides to determine clear space for the mark. This could either be the height of the V or height of the seal.

Minimum Scale
Please use the guidelines below when scaling our lockups and icons down. Keep in mind, if an asset is used very small, it is advised to use the least detailed version. For instance, if implementing a favicon, you would select the Plain V.

- Minimum width for our lockups with icon is 300 px. Below that, default to logotype only, which has a minimum width of 150 px.

- Minimum width for V icons is 70 px.
